Head Coach & Founder - Powerlifting/Weightlifting

Hey guys! I'm Jonathan Meade - the Head Coach and Founder of Rambo Barbell. I love coaching and competing in Olympic Weightlifting and Powerlifting. 

I went to UGA for my Masters Degree in Kinesiology and UTC for my Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science. I'm a USA Weightlifting Sports Performance Coach and have refereed several competitions, including the 2017 USAW Youth National Championships, and am also a USAPL Powerlifting Coach. I've taken many athletes to local and national level competitions, and hope to help you achieve your goals in lifting as well! I also have several other certifications, including the NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, USAW Sports Performance Coach, and USAPL Powerlifting Coach, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, USTF Strength & Conditioning Coach, and more! I've worked with just about every population imaginable - beginners to elite level Weightlifters and Powerlifters, police & fire fighters, NFL players, NBA players, high school athletes, collegiate Track & Field athletes, regular working adults, kids, elderly, large scale industrial workers, etc.

My favorite part of coaching is the grind. The grind is the period of training when the coach and athlete are developing strength, technique, mobility, power, and more during training cycles. These are the times that create the lifter and lead to epic PRs at the end of cycles, during peaking, and in competition. These are the times when the most information is learned through application and cuing to conquer weak points. These are the times when power is developed and athletic ability is improved. Its up to you to put in the work, remain consistent, and trust in yourself but its up to the coach to give you exactly what you need for awesome changes in ability and help you grow. I take pride in giving my athletes the highest quality coaching and programming. I'd love to be there for you through training and competition.

Ryan Middleton MS, BS, ACSM-EP
Athletic & Sports Performance Coach

Hi! I'm Ryan Middleton - a former collegiate lacrosse player and an active Olympic Weightlifter here at Rambo Barbell. As an athlete, current performance coach, and passionate teacher, I'm excited to help you reach the highest level of your sport!


Entering college, I attended the University of the Cumberlands to play lacrosse as an  attackman. During my time there I was able to amount numerous records for points and assists (game, season, career) and remain Top 5 in 4 different categories. After 2 seasons, I transferred to Georgia State University to complete my degree in Exercise Science. Over the last 5 years, I have coached players to the Division 1, 2, and 3 level collegiate programs. 

I received both my Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree in Exercise Science from Georgia State University and am currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Exercise Physiology at Georgia State. I am also a certified Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine.

The value of strength training reaches far beyond the weight room, not only in the physical preparation that keeps an athlete strong and healthy during the season but also in developing confidence in one's ability to perform. I look forward to making you stronger in the weight room and on the field!
